Golden Ray capsizing caused by unstable loading, US Coast Guard says
The ship’s centre of gravity was too high and left the 8,688 dwt Golden Ray susceptible to rolling over, said Lt Ian Oviatt, a naval architect with the USCG’s Marine Safety Center
The coastguard analysis showed Golden Ray failed to comply with International Maritime Organization stability standards at the time it capsized, as well as during its two voyages prior to departing the port of Brunswick
