Port delays could see cargo damage claims rise
With increased port congestion due to coronavirus there is a risk that cargoes, such as grains, could be spoiled. A new ruling has found in favour of shipowners seeking to claim damages in addition to demurrage
A court has found in favour of a vessel owner after a cargo of soyabeans from Brazil became spoiled due to discharge delays in China. The judge ruled that the cargo owners could recover damages, in addition to demurrage, to compensate them for cargo claim liabilities
