NYK: Crimson Polaris had over 1,600 tonnes of fuel oil on board
Towing operations and treatment of the wreck are being considered, while investigators are interviewing the vessel’s master to identify the cause of the incident
Vessel had about 1,550 tonnes of heavy oil and around 130 tonnes of diesel oil on board when it ran aground off Japan earlier this week. Response team is cleaning up the oil spill using oil-treatment agents and adsorption mats
