Number crunching says nothing about seafarer competency shortages
The Seafarer Workforce Report fails to hit the target on so many levels. Estimating how many officers and ratings will be needed in 2026 is useless if the seafarers can’t do the tasks required of them
The report is strong on numbers but weak on competencies. The next 10 years will see shipping take on new technologies and explore new fuels. This forecast overlooks the maritime revolution to come
