Maersk opts for four more methanol-fuelled boxships
Boxship giant exercises option with Hyundai Heavy Industries for four more containerships it hopes to run on carbon-neutral methanol, having ordered eight boxships and a feeder vessel in the past year
Maersk said the 12 ships would save 1.5m tonnes of CO2 a year, or 4.5% of fleet emissions. It is still not certain whether Maersk will be able to find enough green methanol to run the ships, since very little is made renewably today
