Boxship recycling picks up and tanker scrap sales expected to rise
Maersk and Sinokor have each sold a 1990s-built containership for recycling just prior to special survey requirements
A total of 48 boxships have now been sold for scrap since the end of last year, although ship recycling continues to be dominated by the dry cargo sector. Meanwhile, just seven crude oil or product tankers have been demolished this year so far — the lowest levels seen since 1990
